The Bribery Act 2010, effective from 01 July 2011 has significant implications for all organisations. As well as individual offences of offering, requesting or receiving a bribe, it creates the corporate offence of \u201cfailing to prevent bribery\u201d. Under the Act an organisation is liable for the actions of any person carrying out services for or on its behalf, in whatever capacity. This covers contractors, agents, subsidiary companies and other third parties.<\/p>\n
The only defence available is that \u201cadequate procedures\u201d had been put in place to prevent bribery.<\/p>\n
This highly participative half-day workshop provides an overview of the act and what it means including the \u201cadequate procedures\u201d that organisations should put in place to protect themselves.<\/p>\n
The session can be extended to include the development of anti-bribery policies and procedures, or risk assessment of key business processes.<\/p>\n
